Originally used as a holistic practitioner's violet ray set, this vintage physician's quack medical electrotherapy set does produce more ozone and bite that can be hoped to be achieved by any modern / solid state device. It's worth mentioning that the output from all of our vintage devices is fully isolated from the mains (household current) something that cannot be said for all modern devices.

Noted for it's high output, tuned to draw the full 40 watts (see photographs).

This German Helios machine, is a high quality superior frequency controlled device. Frequency controlled?  In plain English, as you turn the control knob this adjusts the breakers which in turn adjusts the output of the device, it also benefits from a filter system reducing the incidence of EMI interference and allowing the handpiece and intensifying bar to be safely grounded through the control box, and grounded handpiece.

In case you haven't noticed, the control unit box itself is all housed in clear perspex allowing you to inspect the inner workings.

Controls

Top of fascia plate - red indicator lamp. Beneath this, a large dial which controls output, and an external handheld intensifier.  This is a metal bar grounded to the machine, it's original purpose was for the patient to hold it in their hand during treatment to stop errant sparks flying about.  It also slightly increses the intensity of the treatment.

To Operate

Ready to use, this control unit can be unclipped from the case and placed on a suitable nearby surface.  All leads are captive to the device. First, connect the device to the power outlet - the indicator lamp will illuminate to show there is power entering the device. Next select your treatment electrode and insert into the handpiece. Now, simply start the machine running by turning the dial clockwise to desired output - turn anticlock to decrease.  Not too high at first - this machine bites!

Voltage

Operates on 220-240 volts (UK, Australia, South Africa , New Zealand, France, Germany, and mainland Europe). Customers with 110 -120 volts mains outlet will need to utilize a small step up voltage transformer/converter to operate this device.

Electrodes

A fine selection of 18 treatment electrodes seated on a new purple cotton velvet lining, some which are insulated. Insulated electrodes have double walled stems to prevent the charge grounding at first point of contact, yes they were originally intended to treat a patient's internal orifices. All electrodes are guaranteed as fully functional (the metal bar in some photographs is for illustration purposes only).
